Counsellor & Supervisor - Individuals, Couples, Groups

Liz Annable

Counselling offers a safe and confidential space to address life experiences and to explore in a professional relationship, the issues that cause you distress, hold you back, drain or confuse you.

A few of the many issues people bring include relationship issues of all kinds, loss and grief, depression, stress and anxiety.

I aim to understand the whole of you and to help you raise awareness of how different aspects of your life may contribute to your current situation, all in a warmly, accepting and empathic way. Person centred counselling in particular, gives you the chance to be heard without judgment. This means I fully accept you, including those aspects you're not proud of, or that may cause you shame or pain or fear. You are able to work at your own pace and set your own agenda and as a result, insights and answers you gain fit your own dilemmas and struggles.

Some of the benefits people notice include gaining confidence, easier decision-making, needing less approval, experiencing an improved quality to their relationships, clarity and clearer communication and generally being happier.

My counselling experience has matured through on-going study and various work settings. Former posts include the University of Sheffield, within mental health charities and end of life care. To give you the chance to see if I'm the counsellor you would like to work with, I offer the first session at the reduced fee of £25.00. Thereafter, fees are £48 per session.

Couples Counselling offers professional, emotional support to approach and voice the difficult areas of life as a couple.  Issues couples bring are many and varied and include: dwindling intimacy and a desire to reconnect; losing a sense of being in a couple in the stresses of family and work life; the complexities of second and step-families; betrayal; rebuilding trust; facing the end of a relationship.

Couples Counselling provides a safe environment to unpack whatever is going on and offers potential release from painful patterns and behaviours.  You will both be facilitated to really hear what the other is saying, the chance to gain insight and clarity as well as extend confidence in broaching emotional areas.

Fees: £55 per session.

Supervision & Consultancy

My starting point is from a deep respect for all supportive relationships.

I aim to open and hold reflective and restorative space to enable the potency we share to emerge.

I completed post-grad supervisor training in 2009.  My counselling experience is within all sectors of education, mental health, end of life care, eating disorders and private practice. The majority of my work is now in private practice.

I have energy and commitment to a range of connections in the therapeutic world, the fruits of which I bring to our work.  I feel deeply rooted on a path of personal and professional development and am a regular participant in workshops, meditation, personal therapy and encounter groups.

I am in the process of extending Supervision and Consultancy to Hunters Bar & Hebden Bridge.
